There's a new sheriff in town....

There's a new sheriff in town....

I, [name redacted], vow to brush and floss my teeth more than twice a day.
I also vow to use mouth wash more than twice a day.

Isn't that common knowledge? Why would anyone need to be reminded of that?

There's this person-- let's call her Jazz-- who can get so lazy sometimes. It's all about the present, so she rarely thinks of the future when it comes to certain situations. For example, she likes to brush her teeth before she eats, but not after. Good oral hygiene always takes a backseat with regards to food; hence the teeth being cleaned before the meal. Jazz wears braces, which causes food to get stuck between the brackets, but that's still not a good enough reason to brush after every meal. I can hear her saying: that's what God created toothpicks for, right? Let's fast forward to yesterday when she went on a shopping spree and bought way too much items to improve her dental hygiene.

First question, who has an epiphany regarding her teeth inside of a RiteAid, while shopping for dental floss? Bizarre story short: the dental floss was never purchased and I-- she, Jazz, has to go back out tomorrow and buy some for $2. Anyway, Jazz bought way too many things and now she has a oath to uphold.

The list includes
  1. A small dental kit that includes a dental scaler, dental mirror, and dental pick.
  2. Slim Brush Cleaners (which is similar to floss)
  3. Crest Pro-Health Multi-Protection mouth wash (that 1 liter bottle cost half an arm...)
What's the big deal since it's only 3 items, right?  Let's include the Oral-B 3D White Vivid 8-pack of toothbrushes and the matching Oral-B 3D White Vivid 8-pack of toothpaste that was purchased in North Carolina two months ago. Both packs are still unopened!

Jazz is motivated but similar to everything else that she's been determined to do, she'll forget about it in a week. But what if she took an oath? She'd have to remember her words the very minute she decides to quit, right? Right?!?!?

*sigh

Tune in tomorrow, not next week, when she forgets to brush, floss, and use mouth wash at least twice a day.

Dear Food Diary,

3/6/2012 - After years of wanting and wishing that I had a bikini-ready body, I've decided to work with what I've got. My diet is already on point:

  • No fried foods,
  • No soda, only 100% real fruit juice,
  • Plenty of water, and
  • No overeating!

That's the shirt, not my stomach! :0)

...Let's try this again!

5/9/2012 After years of wanting and wishing that I had a bikini-ready body, I've decided to work my butt off and exercise as much as possible, until I can finally get into a bikini and not feel self-conscious about all of the stares. Since most of the staring will be from the hearts of lusting men...

Did that last part make you smile? I know that I'm grinning from ear to ear! I can't wait for the day when that statement will be validated!!!!!

I've started a new exercise regimen, which is sure to get me ready for the summer!
Exercise Schedule:
45 mins of cardio (3x a week)
20 mins of abs (3x a week)
5 mins of buns (4x a week)
5 mins of chest (4x a week)
8 mins of feet (getting stiletto ready) (2x a week)
Beach-ready body, see you soon!!!!

6/12/2012 - What was I thinking?!?!?!? All of that working out made me lose my hips and my butt but I still don't have a six-pack!!!!! Plus, I can't stand being sore all of the time.

Revised Exercise Schedule:

30 minutes of abs (4x a week)
10 mins of buns (2x a week)
5 mins of chest (4x a week)

Stay tuned for pics....

Curlkit: Month #1 - June

So I allowed my PJ (product junkie) shopaholic side to get the best of me. Decided to fork over $20 a month to Curlkit to participate in their monthly subscription program.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Curlkit, here's a brief description from their website:
"CurlKit sends out a selection of 5-7 samples that their team of online experts, researches and even tries themselves. In each CurlKit you'll receive everything from pomades and conditioners to natural hair tools, from well-known brands as well as emerging gems. CurlKit’s mission is to help newly naturals and lifelong naturals sort through the clutter, to find new brands and rediscover old favorites."

Basically, I get a box of goodies mailed to my house every month. I have absolutely no idea what is inside until the box is in front of me. If my hair agrees with the samples, I can buy a bigger size. If I don't, all I have to do it cross it off of my "Must Try Products" list. Sometimes the boxes contain full sized goodies so that's a definite plus!

Many of you don't know about my PJ shopaholic side; I basically have a bookshelf filled with hair products for my natural hair. I also have 2 shelves in the bathroom with shampoos, deep conditioners, etc. I have so many products that it makes no sense to buy anything for the next year.

So why would I subscribe to this monthly, I HAVE NO IDEA! This is a perfect time for an intervention!

Here are the contents of this month's box:

This is the box:

These are the goodies:

Full-size Products:
  1. Twisted Sista De Frizz Conditioner
  2. Ampro Vitamin E Oil
Sample Products:
  1. Miss Jessie's Baby ButterCreme
  2. Miss Jessie's Curly ButterCreme
  3. Miss Jessie's Curly Meringue
  4. Nice & Curly Wind Down Gel
  5. Jamaican Mango & Lime Locking Gel
* Guess the Ms Jessie's Curly Pudding sample walked away while they were making my box *

I forgot to add this to the above pic.
It's a spray bottle! I really needed one too. How awesome is that?

So all of that for $20, plus free shipping! This is a great deal.  BTW They gave me a discount so I only paid $16 for everything. Like the youngins say: WIN!

I was hesitant at first since I already have a lot of unopened products and not enough time to try them all. I was also hesitant because several youtubers were complaining about the lack of products in last month's box. I'm fortunate that I didn't get ripped off or waste any money. I'm glad that my PJism got the best of me.

Are any of you part of a monthly subscription? Leave a comment below.

June 6, 2012

A 10-year-old Irish boy stands crying at the side of the road. A man passing by asks, "What's wrong, lad?"

The boy says, "Me ma died this morning."

"Oh, be Jaysus," the man says. "Do you want me to call Father O'Reiley for you?"

The boy replies, "No tanks, mister. Sex is the last ting on me mind at the moment."

*Haven't read the book but I think the movie could have been so much better. Would have given it 1 out of 5 stars but I enjoyed the scenes with Daniel Sunjata, Jason O'Mara, and Leonardo Nam. Worst part of the movie: the voice over; horrible narration.
