GROWING UP...
Lollipops turn into cigarettes.
The innocent ones turn into sluts.
Homework goes in the trash.
Detention becomes suspension.
Soda becomes vodka.
Undies turn into g-strings and boxers.
Kisses turn into sex.
Remember when getting high meant swinging on the playground?
When protection meant wearing a helmet?
When the worst things you could get from girls/boys were cooties?
Your worst enemies were your siblings.
Race issues were about who ran fastest.
War was only a card game.
The only drug you knew was cough medicine.
Wearing a skirt didn't make you a slut.
The only things that hurt were skinned knees.
And goodbyes only meant until tomorrow?

Karmic Consequences
Major religions around the world such as Buddhism or Hinduism teach that all of our actions including our choice of food have karmic consequences. By involving oneself in the cycle of inflicting injury, pain and death, even indirectly by eating other creatures, one must in the future experience in equal measure the suffering caused.

While perusing different sites, I happen to read part of an interview given by First Lady Michelle Obama, who was featured on Glamour magazine.
"Cute’s good. But cute only lasts for so long, and then it’s, Who are you as a person? That’s the advice I would give to women: Don’t look at the bankbook or the title. Look at the heart. Look at the soul. Look at how the guy treats his mother and what he says about women. How he acts with children he doesn’t know. And, more important, how does he treat you? When you’re dating a man, you should always feel good. You should never feel less than. You should never doubt yourself. You shouldn’t be in a relationship with somebody who doesn’t make you completely happy and make you feel whole. And if you’re in that relationship and you’re dating, then my advice is, don’t get married.”
I know I'm late in posting this but I just had to share it with all of my readers.
The First Lady hit the nail right on the head. This sounds exactly like the advice that my mom has been constantly drumming into my head throughout the years.
- "If a man doesn't respect his mother, he probably won't respect you."
- "You can tell what kind of man he is, based on how he treats the waiter."
- "How does he react when people, who are less fortunate, ask him for food or change?"

British Airways
A white woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a black man.
Very disturbed by this, she called the air hostess. 'You obviously do not see it then?' she asked. 'You placed me next to a black man. I did not agree to sit next to someone from such a repugnant group. Give me an alternative seat.'
'Be calm please,' the hostess replied. 'Almost all the places on this flight are taken. I will go to see if another place is available.'
The hostess went away & then came back a few minutes later.
'Madam, just as I thought, there are no other available seats in Economy Class. I spoke to the captain & he informed me that there is also no seat in Business Class. All the same, we still have one place in First Class.'
Before the woman could say anything, the hostess continued.
'It is not usual for our company to permit someone from Economy Class to sit in First Class. However, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it would be scandalous to make someone sit next to someone so disgusting.'
The Hostess turned to the black guy, & said, 'Therefore, Sir, if you would like to, please collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in First Class.'
At that moment, the other passengers, who'd been shocked by what they had just witnessed, stood up & applauded.
This is a true story.

The English language
For Those who Reed and Right
We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes;
but the plural of ox became oxen not oxes.
One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
yet the plural of moose should never be meese.
You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice;
yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.
If the plural of man is always called men,
why shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?
If I spoke of my foot and show you my feet,
and I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?
If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth,
why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth?
Then one may be that, and three would be those,
yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
and the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
but though we say mother, we never say methren.
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him,
but imagine the feminine, she, shis and shim.

Origin of the hand signals
What's the origin of the hand signals used in baseball today?
In the early 1900s, the New York Giants baseball team had a
pitcher named Luther H. Taylor. He was a deaf mute who was, in
an era of insensitivity, nicknamed "Dummy." Taylor lost a lot
of games due to his inability to communicate with his teammates.
John McGraw, the manager of the Giants, was under enormous
pressure from the team's owner, the fans and the sportswriters
to trade Taylor. Instead, McGraw (who seems to have been a Giant
of a man) required the entire Giant team to learn American Sign
Language. Once that was accomplished, McGraw used hand signals
to lead his team.
That's the origin of the hand signals that are used in baseball
today.
